TIDAL WAVE
Logo Redesign
The Old Dominion University Graphic Design Club (GDC) was entering a new phase and needed a refreshed logotype to represent its evolving identity. Tasked by the club's President, I created a dynamic new logo along with comprehensive brand guidelines. The GDC's mission is to amplify design’s voice, build a collective vision for the future, and prepare students for the professional world. The new logotype reflects this forward-thinking ethos, while the guidelines ensure consistent application across all platforms, reinforcing the club’s commitment to design excellence and its growing impact within the university community.

CHALLENGE
The GDC currently has a logotype, but it doesn’t represent the newfound values of the club. The lack of unification makes it difficult for the club to solidify themselves as a professional organization amongst the university.
SOLUTION
The final logotype design moved towards a modern look. The swirls are representative of waves for the city of Norfolk (who’s official symbol is a mermaid), where ODU resides. Connecting the club to the university, and the university to the city, it allows to hone in on the idea of a community.
